No Knitting pictures

I have done a lot of knitting but no pictures of it. I promise to take pictures soon. I finished a pair of fetchings. Everything you've heard about these gloves is correct, fast quick knit with wonderful results. I finished a pair in like 4 hours. Still need to weave in ends though. And I finished another shetland triangle, swallowtail, and a chevron scarf that I need to take a picture of.

I also knit a beautiful black Odessa that I have misplaced. I am knitting a new one to match the fetching but want my black one back!

I went Black Friday shopping this year! Haven't been in like 6 years. Wow it was packed but got some interesting stuff.

Finally here is a collage my sister did of my daughter. I love it! Now have to get pictures to her to do one of my Son!

Beaded Scarf II

So I made the beaded scarf from heartstrings for myself. I used a new yarn called Pace. fingering in red. Nice yarn, a little stiff but softened really nice in the water. Blocking now.
I used over 500 yards of fingering weight.

Size: 16.5 X 67 inches.
Yarn: Pace fingering weight in red, 2.5 skeins.
Needles: Size 3 Addi Turbo lace needles
Beads: iridecent red almost 2 full oz.s cause I added beads in the first and last stitch
Time: Took me a little over one month. Started 9/28 or so
Recipient: Me! This was one of the first patterns I fell in love with
When I first started this scarf.

New Hobby and ISE5 Scarf

It's been a while. I joined ISE5 and have had a few finished objects. Here are a couple and I will try and add a few more next week as I finish blocking them.

Ok I took a wire work class and loved it. So I have a new hobby Beading!

Here is a couple of bookmarks and my first bracelet. I made the bracelet totally by hand. Just wire and some beads, This is addicting. I also made some stitch markers. And it's instant gratification, since you can make everything in like an hour, designing is your biggest time waster.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok I made Faina's scarf in a dark fuchsia out of Frog Tree Alpaca for my ISE5 pal. I love this scarf, originally I wanted to make a scarf with beads but that didn't work out, and I was worried about not finishing on time, so I decided on Faina's since I love it. It's a beautiful lacy scarf that is also warm. Now I need to add Fringe and am going to see if I can find something other then the usual. Though that is nice. The fringe is going to be new for me so hopefully don't screw it up. I usually don't like Fringe but since making this for someone else I might as well add it. After that it's just blocking and coming up with some extra's for my pal.
BTW for all you mothers or mother figures out there here is a great little video.
Two Shawls
I love knitting lace. It is really addicting. So I went to a not so local yarn store, Janet Kemp, and got 2 skeins of Cherry Hill tree sock yarn in solid purple. These are both gifts but going to make one for myself. The only bad part was that one skein of the yarn got me 4 balls. The skein had been cut. So just rolling the balls took a lot of patience and frustration.
The first one is Shetland Triangle from wrap style.
Pattern: Shetland Triangle from Wrap Style
Yarn: Cherry tree hill solid purple 370 yards, probably only used 340 yards
Time: Took me like 2.5 weeks to knit. Love the pattern.
Recipient: Liz's birthday gift
Pattern: Swallowtail Shawl from Interweave fall 2006
Yarn: Cherry tree hill solid purple 370 yards, probably only used 340 yards
Time: Took me like 3.5 weeks to knit. Love the pattern, but the first chart was tedious.
Recipient: Kathy's birthday gift
I'm going to make the swallowtail shawl in Lorna's Lace Shepard sock vera for myself. Hopefully I end up keeping it. And I have a varigated version of the cherry tree hill yarn which I'm going to use to make Shetland Triangle. The shetland triangle is first after my other projects are finished.
Movies
Here is a list of movies with X on all the ones I've seen. It seems I've only seen 71 movies out of 237. However that's cause I don't go to the movie theater unless it's a really good movie. I prefer to watch at home so I can fast forward parts where I'm bored. Learned from my mother, she could watch three things at once on TV, in between commercials. I can see a 2 hour movie in under an hour if it's mediocre. Seriously I watch a lot of movies. I like my movies to be happy endings and no horror. I love mysteries and watch alot of TV mysteries. Good cartoons. Also Indian movies. There is a reason why the Indian movie industry puts out something like 700-800 movies a year. However I prefer classics.
Baby Blankets
I love knitting and Crocheting baby blankets.
This is a basketweave knitting blanket from a Best Baby Afghan book.It's going to be for charity. My job collects handmade blankets around christmas and donates to a daycare. I have 2 so far and crocheting a third.
56" x 36". Plymouth Decor 5.75 skeins. It took me a while to make and after making 1/2 I was ready to be done. Crocheting is faster for me.
Here is one I knit for my daughter before she was born. I used Dale Baby Ull pink yarn and made up a pattern. I like it but would probably knit to a tighter gauge next time.
Crochet
I love to Crochet. Here is a blanket that is unique.
Quick and easy. five point star afghan. I used the patterns below and 2 red heart skeins of yarn.
Little Star Afghan You can use whatever colors and changes the style of the afghan. I made this just for the technique so will be for donation as well. Have to weave in the ends.
More Scarves
Here are some scarves.
I love knitting scarves even though I don't wear them enough.
Chevron Scarf from LMKG
Used 2 skeins of Koigu
My So Called Scarf
Using 1 Skein of Malabrigo Yarn
Garter stitch Scarf
Using one skein of Ladder and 1 Skein of Shimmer yarn from Berroco
I also made a Multi-directional Scarf but unfortunately forgot to take a picture before giving it away. I used over 1.5 skeins of Patons wool in varigated.
Faina's scarf
This was my first lace. I won some black alpaca silk and had to make it. I understood how knitting worked after making this scarf. It clicked. Though knitting is slow for me. Right now making a red one out of frog tree alpaca. Don't know who it's for yet.
Pattern: Faina's scarf from Fibertrends
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpaca & silk yarn 3.5 hanks in black
I also crochet. My favorite is blankets. I've made one for most members of my family and any new babies in the family always get one.
Just started the diagonal crochet afghan for my cousin, who's wife is do anytime now.
Kimono shawl
Here is the Kimono shawl from folk shawls.
Pattern: Folk Shawls book
Yarn: Rowan Dongel discontinued 13.5 hanks of 100 yds/25g wool
size: 35in by 74 in blocked
Blocking this was a pain. I could not get it straight and the garter stitch border can be blocked longer then actual pattern. Maybe just too new at blocking.
It looks fine wearing it and was really a nice easy knit after a couple of repeats. It was fun and probably going to my mom. Now to make some for myself.
Excuse the bad hair and unwoven ends.
Current Knitting and Happy Valentines Day
Happy Valentines day!
I started work so been busy. But I've also been knitting.
Currently knitting the Kimono shawl from Folk shawls and Faina's scarf from FiberTrends.
Almost done with Kimono, 2 hanks left of 15 total (109 yds a hank). I knit the stole using discontinued Rowan donegal tweed. Pics as soon as I finish. Though blocking is going to be a nightmare since don't have blocking wires.
I've already made a black scarf for me and now making a red one out of alpaca. Don't know what I'm going to do with the scarf, probably giving it away.
And as soon as I finish Kimono going to start on my very first socks for myself! Getting impatient but promised my self the Kimono needs to be finished first.
Icarus Shawl
I completed the Icarus shawl at the end of December. This was my first major lace project.
It's going to my best friend Liz.
The finished size is 83" by 42".
I used 4 skeins of Rowan Kidhaze silk in Majestic.
I had less then a yard left when I finished. Definitely uses more yarn then the pattern says. It was close and I got the yarn over 2 years ago so getting more would have been impossible.
But here are pictures of it blocking as best I could. Need blocking wires.
Long Time
Well I had a baby GIRL, her name is Brina and she was born on October 9, 2006
I forgot how much work babies are. She's 3.5 months old and wonderful.
